A longstanding elected board member of public schools in Contra Costa County, Vicki Gordon is an experienced and capable public servant we can trust to lead our county office of education with integrity and fairness.

West Contra Costa Unified School District’s Independent Redistricting Commission, appointed by a Federal Judge, and elected Chair by her peers - On the Redistricting Commission, she ensured that all members of the public were heard and that the many communities inside WCCUSD would have a voice in district elections.

CA Community College Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statewide Taskforce member - working to overcome historical barriers to inequitable education.

Local Roots
Vicki Gordon was born and raised in the East Bay. Vicki’s mother was a teacher, union leader, and principal in the Martinez Unified School District. She was raised, along with her two sisters, by her single mother.
Vicki attended local Mt. Diablo Schools: Valhalla Elementary, Valley View Middle School, and College Park High School. She is an alumna of Diablo Valley College and received her B.S. in Business Administration and Teaching Credential from CSU East Bay. She has been recognized and honored as a distinguished alumna of Mt. Diablo Schools.
Vicki has been married to Scott Gordon for 38 years and they have two grown children. Scott and Vicki have lived in Martinez for the past 28 years, and prior to that, in Pleasant Hill.
Serving Our Public Schools and Our Community, Vicki started out teaching in Pittsburg and Martinez.
Vicki started her teaching career at Parkside Elementary in Pittsburg but found her niche teaching Middle School at Martinez Junior High. After her second child was born, she decided to stay home and with her two small children . She planned to return when they started school.
In 1997, Vicki was asked to run for the Martinez Unified School Board where she served and volunteered for 15 years. In 2012 she ran and won a seat on the Contra Costa Community College board. Vicki served on the Community College Board for eight years.
Vicki has been an active school and community volunteer including the following roles:

California School Board Association as a District 7 Representative,

Contra Costa California School Board Association (including as President and Vice President of Programs),

Martinez Education Foundation(Fundraising Liaison for 12 years), and
-
PTA (Member for 12 years, including serving as President and Vice President).
LEADERSHIP
We have a responsibility to the future of our democracy to ensure integrity in education and care of our students and their successes.

We need leadership informed by real experience on the ground, in our community, and in today's ever-changing landscape. We need someone who has the knowledge, passion and the drive to do what is right .
We need a leader who will think creatively to solve difficult issues and build partnerships, relationships and consensus. Vicki is that leader.
